The Federal Government says it will discontinue the policy requiring junior and senior secondary schools to operate as physically and administratively separate institutions.

Announcing the decision at the inauguration of a ministerial monitoring committee, the Minister of Education said the policy had led to overcrowded junior schools and underused senior secondary facilities in many states.

The proposal will be tabled at the next National Council on Education meeting before nationwide implementation begins.
