Adeleke declares work-free day for PVC collection ahead of governorship poll

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared Tuesday, July 28, 2026, a work-free day for all public servants to enable them collect their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
The directive, announced in a circular issued by the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina, applies to state civil servants, local government workers and staff of tertiary institutions.
According to a statement by the governor's spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the decision is aimed at giving workers the opportunity to fulfil their civic responsibility by obtaining their PVCs before the election. Essential workers, including medical and security personnel, have been advised to make arrangements to ensure uninterrupted services during the work-free day.
Adeleke also urged all eligible voters, including those in the informal sector, to collect their PVCs without delay, stressing that the voter card is the key to participating in the electoral process.
