The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has announced a N50 million support package for families affected by the recent kidnapping incident in Oriire Local Government Area of Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

Akpabio disclosed the donation during today's plenary, explaining that the fund was part of the Senate's efforts to provide assistance to victims' families following the tragic incident.

He stated that N10 million would be given to each of the five affected families, including the families of three security personnel who lost their lives during the rescue operation and two teachers who were killed.

The Senate's intervention comes as lawmakers called for increased support for bereaved families and urged security agencies to strengthen coordinated efforts to rescue other victims of kidnapping across the country.

However, during the plenary session, Sen. Abdul Ningi raised concerns over the scope of the compensation, urging the Senate to ensure that assistance is extended to all citizens affected by similar attacks.
