The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted a ₦200 million bail package to activist and presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore, who is standing trial over alleged cybercrime offences.

In its ruling, the court ordered that one of two required sureties must be a traditional ruler from the defendant's community, while the second must own verifiable landed property within the capital.

The presiding judge also directed that Sowore's international passport be deposited with the court registry pending the conclusion of proceedings.

The matter has been adjourned to July 6, when the defence is expected to open its case.
