Court affirms David Mark-led ADC leadership, dismisses Abejide's suit

Justice Musa Liman of the Federal High Court has affirmed the leadership of the African Democratic Congress headed by former Senate President David Mark, dismissing a suit filed by a House of Representatives member challenging the emergence of the leadership.
The judge upheld preliminary objections raised by the ADC and its leadership, ruling that the court lacked jurisdiction because the matter concerned the internal affairs of a political party, and that the petitioner had not exhausted internal dispute resolution processes.
On the substantive issues, the court held that the transfer of the party's leadership did not violate the ADC constitution, finding that a stakeholders' meeting preceded the National Executive Committee meeting that formally produced the current leadership under INEC's supervision.
