Edo APC hails LG poll victory, pledges 2.5 million votes for Tinubu in 2027

The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described its victory in the recent local government elections as a strong indication of the party's growing support ahead of the 2027 general elections, reaffirming its commitment to deliver 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid.
The party made the declaration today, shortly after the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission presented Certificates of Return to the newly elected local government chairmen and councillors.
Addressing journalists at the party's state secretariat in Benin City, the APC State Chairman, Emperor Jaret Tenebe, said the elected officials would not be sworn into office until September, when the tenure of the current council administration expires in line with statutory provisions governing local government elections.
Tenebe described the election outcome as a reflection of public confidence in the APC, Governor Monday Okpebholo's administration and President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to him, the party secured 2,158,600 votes across the state, describing the result as an overwhelming mandate earned through effective grassroots mobilisation, purposeful leadership and sustained support from Edo residents.
