The Federal Government plans to begin publishing indicators on poverty, income and inequality to assess how its economic reforms are affecting the living standards of Nigerians.

Speaking at a BusinessDay conference in Lagos, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, said the government will measure the success of its reforms using three key indicators: reductions in multidimensional poverty, increases in real income per capita, and lower income inequality.

The initiative is intended to address concerns that while reforms such as the removal of fuel subsidy and naira liberalisation have improved government revenue, foreign exchange liquidity and investor confidence, many Nigerians are still grappling with high inflation and rising living costs.
