INEC Assures Nigerians Every Valid Vote Will Count in 2027

The Independent National Electoral Commission has assured Nigerians that all valid votes will count in the 2027 general elections, promising to conduct a credible process that reflects the choice of voters.
Head of Voter Education and Publicity at INEC Kwara State, Adejumo Peter, gave the assurance during a seminar organised by the Correspondents' Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Ilorin.
Peter said INEC Kwara would adhere strictly to the commission's guidelines and procedures to ensure the elections are free, fair and conducted on the principle of one person, one vote.
He also said advances in electoral technology have made it difficult for individuals to manipulate results through the collection or possession of Permanent Voter Cards.
The INEC Kwara spokesperson urged political parties and candidates to prioritise issue-based campaigns by presenting their programmes to voters rather than engaging in violence. He encouraged all stakeholders to respect electoral rules and ensure peaceful conduct before, during and after the 2027 elections.
