INEC recognises David Mark-led ADC for 2027 elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it will recognise only candidates submitted by the David Mark-led leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 general election.
INEC National Commissioner, Mohammed Haruna, said the commission granted the Mark-led leadership access to its nomination portal following the Supreme Court judgment affirming it as the party's recognised leadership.
According to him, the faction has submitted candidates for four hundred and seventy-one elective positions, comprising two presidential candidates, one hundred and nine senatorial candidates, and three hundred and sixty House of Representatives candidates.
Haruna said the rival faction had no legal basis to submit candidates, having lost its appeal for recognition.
