NDC demands Gbajabiamila's suspension over alleged fake agency scandal

The Nigeria Democratic Congress has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to suspend the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, pending an independent investigation into allegations surrounding the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, an agency the Presidency has maintained does not exist.
In a statement issued by the party's National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the opposition party said the suspension would allow for what it described as a transparent investigation.
The party said allegations reportedly made by Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claims to be the Director-General of the council, raise concerns about accountability and governance — including claims that the purported agency received allocations in the 2026 federal budget and opened Treasury Single Account, domiciliary and pounds sterling accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria despite the Presidency's position that no such agency exists.
The party also questioned claims that the Head of the Civil Service approved 314 staff positions for the purported agency, and referenced allegations that Gbajabiamila demanded 48 per cent of the agency's reported take-off grant, estimated at about ₦27.4 billion, with Adeyemi claiming he obtained his appointment after allegedly paying ₦600 million, of which ₦400 million was reportedly delivered through intermediaries and ₦200 million remained unpaid.
