The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has forecast widespread rainfall and thunderstorms across many parts of the country on Thursday.

In its latest weather outlook, the agency said the expected conditions will affect states in the northern, north-central and southern regions, with thunderstorms, moderate rainfall, strong winds and reduced visibility predicted in several locations.

NiMet said northern states are expected to experience cloudy conditions in the morning, with thunderstorms and light rainfall likely in parts of Gombe, Bauchi, Kaduna, Adamawa and Taraba states. Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms with moderate rainfall are expected across parts of Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Zamfara, Kebbi, Sokoto, Yobe, Adamawa, Borno and Taraba states.

The agency warned that lightning and strong winds could accompany the storms and advised residents to take necessary precautions. For the North-Central region, NiMet forecast morning thunderstorms with light rainfall, followed by more widespread thunderstorms and moderate rainfall later in the day across parts of Niger, Kwara, Benue, Kogi, Plateau, Nasarawa and the Federal Capital Territory.
