The Presidency has dismissed claims by former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi that the Federal Government is targeting his business interests to frustrate his political ambition.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described the allegation as false and politically motivated, saying the administration of President Bola Tinubu has neither the intention nor the time to persecute Peter Obi or interfere with his business activities.

Onanuga was reacting to comments made by Obi during a podcast, in which the former presidential candidate alleged that he was being harassed, his business interests were under pressure, and that he feared he might not be alive to participate in the 2027 general election if the alleged persecution continued.

Responding to the allegations, the Presidency said Obi was attempting to portray himself as a victim of political persecution in order to gain public sympathy.
