The House of Representatives witnessed a heated session as lawmakers disagreed over a motion seeking to invite President Bola Tinubu to address concerns over alleged delays in funding constituency projects.

The motion, sponsored by Alex Mascot Ikwechegh (LP, Abia State), urged the President to appear before the House and explain the reasons behind the continued delay in financing constituency projects across the country.

The motion received support from some lawmakers, while another member proposed an amendment calling for the suspension of plenary for one week until the funding concerns are resolved — a proposal that triggered a heated debate, with lawmakers expressing opposing views on the matter.

However, the Speaker ruled that the proposal to invite President Tinubu is out of order, explaining that it is not included in the original motion presented by Ikwechegh. The House subsequently moved to address the matter within the scope of the initial motion while debates continued over the funding and implementation of constituency projects.
