President Bola Tinubu has declined to sign into law two bills passed by the National Assembly, citing constitutional and drafting deficiencies that must be corrected before they can receive presidential assent.

The affected bills include the Raw Materials Research and Development Council Amendment Bill, 2026, and the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management of Nigeria Bill.

In separate letters read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, President Tinubu said he exercised his powers under Section 58(4) of the 1999 Constitution, which allows the President to return bills to the National Assembly for reconsideration.

Despite rejecting the bills, the President said they could be returned for assent after the identified issues are corrected.
