Tinubu vows to defend mandate, says opposition won't force him out

With less than six months to Nigeria's 2027 presidential election, President Bola Tinubu has declared that he will not allow the opposition to force him out of office, insisting he is prepared to contest vigorously and defend his mandate until the end.
The President made the remarks while receiving members of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Matthew Ndagoso, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Responding to concerns raised by the bishops over the credibility of the forthcoming elections, Tinubu expressed confidence in the neutrality of INEC, dismissing allegations of bias and suggesting that opposition parties were unsettled by their own internal challenges.
The President stressed that although he welcomed political competition, he would not make it easy for his opponents, and defended the performance of his administration, saying Nigeria is gradually overcoming inherited economic and structural challenges and that the quality of life is beginning to improve.
