Defence Minister Hails Tinubu's 30–80% Military Salary Increase

The Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa retd., has commended President Bola Tinubu for approving a salary increase of between 30 and 80 per cent for members of the Armed Forces, describing the decision as a significant boost to troop welfare and operational efficiency.
In a statement issued today by his Special Assistant on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde, Musa expressed gratitude to the President for approving what he described as a historic review of military salaries. According to the minister, the graduated salary structure reflects the administration's commitment to improving the welfare of officers and soldiers serving across the country.
He noted that the salary adjustment would ease the financial burden on military personnel while strengthening their morale and effectiveness in ongoing operations against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, oil theft, and other security threats. The Minister urged military personnel to see the improved remuneration as a renewed call to duty and to intensify efforts to safeguard lives, protect the nation's territorial integrity and restore peace across the country.
He also reaffirmed the Ministry of Defence's commitment to supporting the Federal Government's agenda of modernising military equipment, strengthening technological capabilities and improving the welfare of service personnel and their families.
