European Union interior ministers have condemned what they described as foreign information interference linked to the circulation of images during the recent migration crisis in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta (say.uh.tah).

The concerns were raised during an informal online meeting of EU interior ministers convened after tens of thousands of migrants crossed into Ceuta from Morocco last week.

Speaking after the meeting, French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said all EU member states expressed solidarity with Spain, dismissing suggestions of divisions within the bloc over the handling of the crisis. According to Nuñez, foreign actors used images from the migration surge to criticise the European Union's migration policies and fuel divisions among member states.

He also commended the Spanish government's response to the crisis and praised the cooperation between Spain and Morocco in managing the situation.
