FG Commissions World-Class Fertility Centre, Maternity Complex at UNIMAID Teaching Hospital

The Federal Government has commissioned a world-class fertility care centre and maternity complex built by the North-East Development Commission within the premises of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital in Borno State.
The solar-powered facility is equipped with modern medical equipment, including an intracytoplasmic sperm injection machine, incubators, oxygen concentrators, a Spermifuge, laboratory equipment and furniture.
Speaking with journalists after the commissioning in Maiduguri, the Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Ahmadu, said the facility would reduce the need for residents of Borno and other parts of the North-East to travel outside the region for fertility and maternal healthcare. Ahmadu said the project was part of President Bola Tinubu's administration's intervention in the region through the North-East Development Commission, adding that similar investments were being made across key sectors.
