FG Launches Youth Agroforestry Campaign in Kwara as NALDA Expands Tree-Planting Initiative

The Federal Government, through the National Agricultural Land Development Authority, NALDA, has launched a Youth Agroforestry and Climate Action Campaign in Kwara State as part of efforts to promote food security, environmental sustainability and youth participation in climate action.
The initiative, implemented under NALDA's Green Hope Project, follows the completion of its first phase, during which about 5,000 economic trees were planted across four locations in Ogun, the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau and Kwara states. Approximately 400 youths participated as volunteers and climate advocates.
Speaking during the tree-planting exercise at Oke-Onigbin in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, NALDA's Special Assistant on Projects, Salman Ibrahim, announced that the Federal Government had approved the planting of an additional 56,000 economic trees across 34 Open-Field Horticulture Clusters nationwide. The next phase is expected to involve more than 2,000 young people, who will participate in tree planting and promote climate-conscious practices in their communities.
