Osun Election: Women Protest Alleged Police Intimidation, Political Violence

A large crowd of women on Monday took to the major streets of Osogbo, the Osun State capital, to protest alleged police intimidation, political violence and killings ahead of Saturday's governorship election in the state.
The protesters carried placards, sang solidarity songs and chanted slogans condemning political violence and killings linked to the election.
Speaking during the protest, one of the leaders, who identified herself as Eniola, condemned the violence allegedly associated with political activities in the state. She stressed that political disagreements should not be used to justify killings, intimidation or destruction, warning that innocent residents must not become victims of political ambitions.
The women appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene in what they described as a growing threat to the safety and security of residents of Osun State. They also called for the redeployment of the Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan, alleging perceived partisanship.
The protesters urged the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to remain neutral and protect citizens irrespective of their political affiliations.
