The Osun State Government has rejected allegations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission that N11 billion was looted from the state's accounts, describing the claim as an attempt to justify the freezing of its bank account.

Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo, said the account was frozen to prevent the payment of palliatives promised to workers, alleging that the action was carried out at the instance of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola.

Kolapo said the state had already paid the palliatives after negotiations with workers aimed at easing the impact of the country's economic hardship. He explained that the cost-of-living support was not the first such payment made by the administration, insisting that the government had fulfilled its commitment to workers despite the account restriction.

The commissioner further alleged that the EFCC was acting on behalf of the Osun APC by freezing the state's account and making what he described as false claims of looting ecological and other public funds.
