The Nigeria Police Force says it has deployed over 15,000 personnel and 30 Commissioners of Police for Saturday's Osun State governorship election.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, disclosed this in Osogbo, adding that a Deputy Inspector-General of Police would coordinate security operations during the poll.

He said helicopters and drones had also been deployed for aerial surveillance, while armed Mobile Police Force units would be stationed across the state's 30 local government areas.

The police said the state would be effectively locked down from midnight on Saturday, with vehicular movement restricted except for essential services, security personnel and voters.
