Vice President Kashim Shettima has described infrastructure development as a tool for creating and distributing economic opportunities across Nigeria, stressing that communities become congested when opportunities are concentrated in only a few places.

Shettima made the remarks while commissioning the 33.5-kilometre Elele-Egbeda-Omoku dual carriageway in Rivers State, which connects Ikwerre, Emohua and Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Areas.

Shettima said President Bola Tinubu is pleased with the completion of the road and commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara for investing public funds in the project. He described the development as evidence that government is a continuum, with successive administrations building on previous achievements.

The project, awarded in March 2024 with a 24-month completion timeline, includes a 99-metre bridge and is expected to improve transportation, connectivity and commercial activities across the benefiting communities.
