Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, said Nigeria's improving macroeconomic environment has created a stronger foundation for attracting investments, urging states to work together to unlock the country's economic potential.

Speaking at the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit 2026 in Asaba, Soludo said the country's improved economic fundamentals should be celebrated, considering the difficult conditions that existed before the current reforms.

He revealed that shortly after assuming office as governor, Anambra State withdrew from the World Bank-funded NG-Cares programme because prevailing foreign exchange distortions made even zero-interest loans financially risky. He explained that with the exchange rate then significantly undervalued, any future adjustment would dramatically increase the real cost of repaying foreign-denominated loans.

The governor called for stronger collaboration among the Federal Government, the 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory and local governments, saying collective action would produce greater economic results than isolated efforts.
