President Bola Tinubu has called for stronger national and international cooperation to confront emerging security threats facing Nigeria and other countries around the world.

The president said Nigeria's security challenges are multifaceted and require coordinated, sustainable responses involving governments, international organisations, religious leaders and other stakeholders.

The President spoke in Abuja on Tuesday at an international security conference organised by Jama'atu Izalatil Bidiah wa Iqamatis Sunnah in partnership with the Muslim World League of Saudi Arabia. The conference, themed "Diversity and Social Peace: Partnership for a Promising Future," brought together Muslim and Christian leaders, scholars and representatives from Saudi Arabia and other African countries.

Represented by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, president Tinubu said his administration remained committed to collaborating with other countries and international organisations to strengthen security in Nigeria and contribute to global peace.

The President said the conference was particularly important given the changing nature of security threats, including challenges affecting national and digital security. He urged participants to develop practical recommendations that could complement the government's ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity.
