Tinubu Rejects Obasanjo's Doubts, Vows Port Harcourt, Warri, Kaduna Refineries Will Operate Profitably

President Bola Tinubu has rejected former President Olusegun Obasanjo's doubts over the viability of Nigeria's state-owned refineries in Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna. The President said the three refineries would resume operations despite years of failed rehabilitation efforts and billions of naira spent on turnaround maintenance.
The President spoke when he received the Executive President of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, Salimon Oladiti, and other union members at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. He said the return of the refineries to operation would not be enough, stressing that they must also be profitable and deliver value to Nigerians.
The President said he would not dwell on the past failures surrounding the refineries, adding that he had accepted responsibility for the assets and liabilities inherited from previous administrations, and that his administration is committed to fixing the facilities and ensuring they operate in a manner that benefits Nigerians.
