The Court of Appeal has upheld the conviction of members of a real-estate fraud syndicate found to have sold disputed plots to unsuspecting buyers in Gwarinpa district.

The appellate panel found no merit in the defence's argument that documentation used in the original trial was improperly obtained.

Victims' groups have welcomed the ruling, calling for stronger land title verification systems to prevent similar schemes.
