NYSC Makes NERD Clearance Mandatory for 2026 Batch 'B' Mobilisation

The National Youth Service Corps NYSC has announced that prospective corps members must obtain clearance from the National Electronic Registration Database NERD before they can be mobilised for national service.
The directive, issued today through the scheme's official X account, forms part of preparations for the mobilisation of the 2026 Batch 'B' prospective corps members and efforts to strengthen the integrity of the mobilisation process.
In the notice, the NYSC urged eligible graduates to obtain their NERD clearance early to avoid delays in their mobilisation. Reinforcing the directive, the NYSC added that NERD clearance is now compulsory for all prospective corps members, stressing that those without the required clearance will not be eligible for mobilisation.
Although the scheme did not provide further details on how the clearance process will be carried out, the announcement signals stricter verification measures ahead of the next orientation exercise. The advisory comes shortly after the NYSC announced the mobilisation of another batch of prospective corps members for the 2026 Batch 'B' service year, urging tertiary institutions and eligible graduates to complete all required documentation before the commencement of orientation.
