The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arraigned three suspects, including two children of the late Adimike Godwin, before the FCT High Court over the alleged murder of the deceased in Guzape, Abuja.

The defendants, Adimike Anthony, Adimike Stephany, and Comfort Ajibade were brought before the court on four counts bordering on criminal conspiracy to commit culpable homicide, and alleged violations of the Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act.

Following their arraignment, the court adjourned the case until September 30, 2026, and ordered that the three defendants be remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre pending further proceedings.

According to a statement issued today by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, the incident occurred on May 15, 2026, after police received a distress call from a relative of the deceased reporting that he was unreachable.

Adeh said officers who responded to the call found Godwin unconscious in his room with multiple stab wounds. He was immediately taken to Karu General Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed him dead.

She explained that the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, directed a detailed investigation into the case, which initially led to the arrest of five suspects, including the deceased's driver and gateman.

However, after the investigation was concluded, only Anthony, Stephany, and Ajibade were charged before the court.

The police spokesperson stated that the three defendants were jointly charged with conspiracy and culpable homicide in connection with Godwin's death.

She added that Anthony was separately charged with entering into a same-sex civil union, while Stephany and Ajibade were jointly charged with the same offence under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.

Adeh said the FCT Police Command would continue to pursue justice in the matter while ensuring that the constitutional rights of all parties were respected throughout the judicial process.
