The Federal Government is set to launch Nigeria's first National Organised Crime Strategy as part of efforts to strengthen the country's response to terrorism, cybercrime, kidnapping, human and drug trafficking, illicit financial flows and other forms of organised crime.

The National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Centre in the Office of the National Security Adviser, Major General Adamu Laka, disclosed this in Abuja during the validation of the strategy document.

Laka said the strategy provides a coordinated national framework for preventing and combating organised crime through improved intelligence sharing, stronger inter-agency collaboration and enhanced cooperation with the criminal justice sector, civil society organisations and international partners.

He explained that the strategy was developed through a partnership involving the Federal Government, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the United States Government and other stakeholders. According to him, the initiative aligns with the UNODC Country Programme for Nigeria and complements existing national counter-terrorism policies.
