Lagos-Ibadan Expressway crash: one dead, another injured as multiple trucks cause heavy traffic on Kara Bridge

One person has died and another was injured in a multiple-vehicle crash along Kara Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, causing heavy traffic congestion that left hundreds of motorists stranded and disrupted economic activities.
Federal Road Safety Corps Lagos Sector Public Education Officer, Elizabeth Jayeola, said the first crash occurred at about 12:05 a.m. on the outbound carriageway towards Ibadan and involved five articulated trucks and a Toyota Sienna vehicle, with preliminary findings linking the crash to speed violation and loss of control. Seven adult males were involved, with one person confirmed dead, one injured and five others escaping unhurt.
Elizabeth Jayeola said a second crash occurred at about 3:15 a.m. on the inbound carriageway towards Lagos while rescue and recovery operations were underway. The incident involved a Mazda commercial bus and was attributed to brake failure, with the driver sustaining serious injuries and being rescued by the FRSC emergency response team before being taken to the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre for treatment.
