The Nigerian Army says it will continue to prioritise the welfare of its personnel through sustained investment in housing and other critical infrastructure across barracks and cantonments nationwide.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, stated this while commissioning newly completed residential quarters at the Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment, Giri, Abuja.

He said the provision of decent accommodation remains essential to troop motivation and operational effectiveness, noting that personnel who are properly housed and assured of their families' welfare are better equipped to discharge their constitutional responsibilities.

Lieutenant General Shaibu explained that the project reflects his command philosophy of placing the soldier first, adding that the expansion of the Nigerian Army to address evolving security challenges has increased the demand for accommodation.
