The Oyo State Government has denied reports claiming that ransom was paid to secure the release of pupils and teachers abducted in the state.

It described the allegation as false and urged residents to disregard the report, saying it could mislead the public and undermine ongoing security efforts, adding that the victims were released through coordinated efforts involving security agencies and other relevant stakeholders.

The state government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, saying it would continue working with security agencies to strengthen surveillance in schools and communities, and called on residents to stay vigilant, share credible information with law enforcement, and avoid spreading unverified claims on social media.
