Police arraign man over alleged fake presidential council

The Nigeria Police Force has filed an eight-count criminal charge against Adeniyi Adeyemi, the convener of the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, over allegations of forgery, impersonation and related offences.
The case, filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja, also involves two other defendants accused of using forged government documents to establish and operate the council.
According to court documents, Adeyemi allegedly presented himself as the Director-General of the council using forged official papers, including a purported appointment letter said to have originated from the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President.
Investigators also allege that the defendants opened multiple bank accounts in the council's name and sought official recognition for an agency the Federal Government says does not exist.
