The Cross River State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a woman, identified as Blessing Ayebe, whose body was discovered inside a toilet facility at the Presbyterian Church, Ikot Ansa Parish, in Calabar Municipality.

Ayebe's body was reportedly found around 9 p.m. on Monday, several days after she was declared missing by her family. According to sources, the deceased attended a church service at the Presbyterian Church on Saturday, June 28, but failed to return home, prompting concern among her relatives.

Her disappearance was first noticed by her son, Saviour Ayebe, while her daughter, Peace Ayebe, subsequently reported the case to the Federal Housing Police Station in Calabar on Tuesday, July 1.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Cross River State, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, said the command had commenced investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding her death, disclosing that the body had been evacuated to a mortuary, where an autopsy would be conducted to establish the cause of death.
