Police say court order prevented Adeyemi's appearance before Reps panel

The Nigeria Police Force has explained why it was unable to produce Prince Adeyemi Adeniyi, the self-proclaimed Director-General of the alleged Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, before the House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee investigating the activities of the controversial organisation.
The committee, chaired by the lawmaker representing Kanke/Kanam/Pankshin Federal Constituency of Plateau State, Yusuf Gagdi, had directed the Inspector-General of Police on Monday to present Adeyemi before lawmakers following testimonies from several government institutions that disowned the purported council.
At the resumed investigative hearing today, the IGP was represented by Deputy Commissioner of Police Olufemi Akinola of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre, alongside Assistant Commissioner of Police Bashir Abdullahi. Akinola explained that the police could not produce Adeyemi because he is currently being detained under a valid order issued by the Federal High Court, noting that compliance would require a production warrant or another appropriate court order authorising his release for the hearing.
He reaffirmed the police's commitment to cooperating with the National Assembly while complying with existing judicial orders. Committee Chairman Yusuf Gagdi accepted the explanation and assured the police that the panel would immediately begin the legal process of obtaining the necessary production warrant from the court.
