Tinubu orders ICPC probe into alleged fake presidential council

President Bola Tinubu has directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission to investigate the activities of the alleged fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council and all matters connected to its operations, with a comprehensive report expected within 30 days.
The directive, announced on Tuesday by the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, followed the discovery that the council was never established by the Federal Government and lacks any legal or executive backing.
According to the Presidency, the investigation will focus on the alleged use of forged appointment letters and official government documents by Adeniyi Adeyemi Mathew.
President Tinubu also instructed the anti-corruption agency to determine how the fictitious organisation gained an appearance of legitimacy, investigate the origin and use of the alleged forged documents, trace any funds linked to the scheme, and identify individuals, institutions or officials who may have facilitated its operations.
