Kwara Confirms Rescue of 163 Residents Abducted in 2026 Terrorist Attack

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has confirmed the release of one hundred and sixty-three residents abducted during the February 3, 2026 terrorist attack on Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area.
Governor AbdulRazaq said the operation also led to the rescue of about one hundred and forty-five kidnap victims from neighbouring Niger State, describing the mission as a major breakthrough in the fight against terrorism and kidnapping.
He credited the success of the operation to the combined efforts of security agencies and acknowledged the intervention of President Bola Tinubu in securing the release of the victims.
The governor expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for supporting the rescue mission and said the victims had been freed from captivity after the operation in the Kainji Lake National Park forest. He added that the rescue of victims from both Kwara and Niger states reflects the outcome of the coordinated security operation.
