The newly deployed Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, has officially assumed duty as the 36th Commissioner of Police of the Anambra State Police Command.

Ama's assumption of office today, followed a strategic redeployment approved by the Police Service Commission and the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu. He succeeds AIG Ikioye Orutugu, who retired from the Nigeria Police Force after being promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.

In a statement issued today, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, described Ama as an experienced senior police officer with more than three decades of service in the Nigeria Police Force.

Before his deployment to Anambra, Ama served as Commissioner of Police, Intelligence and Training, at the Force Intelligence Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja. He had previously served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in the same department.

Throughout his career, he has served in several strategic capacities covering intelligence, criminal investigation, tactical operations, administration, public relations and command.

Speaking after assuming office, Ama pledged to consolidate the existing security gains in Anambra State and strengthen collaboration between the police and other security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders, youths, women and other critical stakeholders.
